Food and Drink

Between the Mersey and the Dee, there's so much to do and see!

I'll be honest, I'm much more into my food and drink than my sporting activities! Luckily there's tons of great pubs on the Wirral, as well as some fabulous local breweries.

The Nicholls of Parkgate ice cream is something I always indulge in whenever I'm there, too!

Local Breweries

  • Peerless Brewing
Award winning microbrewery based in Birkenhead. Try the "Full Whack"... it's strong though, so don't have too many!

  • Brimstage Brwery
Some absolutely incredible ales, available in pubs across the Wirral. "Trapper's Hat" is probably my favourite.

  • Glen Affric Brewery & Taproom
An eclectic range of beers for the modern palate. Head to the Taproom to sample their delights.

Parkgate Ice Cream

  • Family business open since 1937.
Always a firm favourite when we were kids, an ice cream cone is the perfect companion to the views across the Dee Estuary

  • Dozens of flavours to choose from
Each hand-made using the finest Italian flavours.

  • Not just ice cream.
They also sell beautiful chocolates, jams, marmalades and biscuits.

Pubs & Restaurants

  • The Red Fox, Thornton
A little pricey, but a stunning old building with beautiful gardens, amazing food and a huge bar to choose from.

  • The Anchor Inn, Irby
Pictured to the right, it's sheer cosiness. Enjoy a burger with your pint, sat by a roaring fire. Bliss.

  • 107 Dining Room, Heswall
The food here is great value, but the main reason they're on the list is they always look after us so well! Get the wings.
